THIS IS TODAY
My daughter Mila turned six, surrounded by friends and laughter. Later that month, she saw my face for the last time and was diagnosed with a rare and fatal disease. Life as I had known it ended. I fought for her life. During my struggle, I met a mother who had lost her 7-year-old son in an accident. When I asked how she made it through life, she replied, “I talk about him”. And so I began talking and writing about Mila while she is still with me. I let the world into the turmoil of my thoughts, the closet of my hopes and fears.
I am vulnerable. But this is me. This is my today.
This is today.
